The highly anticipated GRASS airdrop from Grass Network faced a rocky start, leaving many users frustrated as they encountered issues accessing their tokens.
What happened?
The surge in demand caused significant downtime for wallet provider Phantom, which was unresponsive for nearly three hours on 28 October as users flocked to claim their GRASS tokens.
According to Phantom’s status page, a back-end issue disrupted services at 1:36 P.M. UTC, with operations resuming at 4:20 P.M. UTC.
This marked the second service disruption this month, following an eight-minute outage on 3 October.
Remarking on the same, the Phantom team took to X and noted,
“We’re currently experiencing an uptime incident and some services may be temporarily disrupted. If you are in urgent need of making a transaction, please ignore simulation errors and try using a dapp.”
Users expresses frustration
An hour after the GRASS airdrop went live, numerous users took to X to express their frustration over their inability to access the distributed tokens.
Many users reported that despite initially being marked as eligible on Grass Network’s airdrop checker, their wallet addresses displayed the message – “not eligible.”
This unexpected glitch left several participants confused and disappointed, as they continued to await access to their airdropped tokens.

Grass crypto’s airdrop plans
For context, this airdrop, touted as one of the most significant recent launches, saw Grass Foundation allocate 10% of the GRASS token’s capped 1-billion supply.
Out of this, 1.5% is reserved for early closed alpha testers, with an additional 7% distributed to participants across Epochs 1 – 7.
However, the absence of allocations for the Bonus Epoch and future distribution plans in the initial release has only deepened frustration among supporters. Especially since they have consistently voiced concerns over the model.
Following the fix, Phantom announced on X that its team would “closely monitor the situation” and implement measures to prevent future disruptions.

Is there more to it?
As expected, GRASS token has seen considerable price swings since its launch. Shortly after going live, the token’s value dropped by 28%, hitting a low of $0.65, before rebounding by 9%.
However, the latest update from CoinGecko revealed that GRASS was trading at $1.10 at press time, reflecting a 20.4% hike over the last 24 hours.
Needless to say, various airdrops have faced their share of setbacks, with Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) standing as a notable example too.
These instances highlight the complex and often turbulent nature of token distributions, particularly amid high demand and technical challenges.
