Justin Sun saves the day after Ty Dolla $ign accidentally burns $500k worth of SUNDOG
American rapper Ty Dolla $ign accidentally burned $500,000 worth of SUNDOG tokens when he made a transfer to the wrong Tron address, but minutes after Justin Sun sends the American rapper the funds back.
On his X account, Ty Dolla Sign said that he sent 1,6 million SUNDOG (SUNDOG) tokens to his Tron(TRX) wallet on Oct. 8, only to find that the tokens did not turn up. Upon closer inspection by X users and crypto.news, the rapper accidentally made a transfer to the contact address, not his TRX wallet.
In his previous tweet, the rapper had just bought the Tron meme token for $500,000, only to lose it mere hours after the purchase due to a mistake in sending the funds to the wrong crypto wallet.
“So it’s gone?? What am I supposed to do now?” wrote the rapper on X.
Yo, where my $SUNDOG at? I sent it to my TRX address and it ain’t showing???https://t.co/zpCAroAon3

Many internet users under the post tried to explain to the rapper what happened to his SUNDOGs, with some even suggesting that he should buy Shiba Inu tokens in its stead. But there was no recovering the lost SUNDOG tokens.
However, minutes after crypto entrepreneur and SUNDOG ambassador Justin Sun sent the funds back.
Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Sent you $500K TRX so you can get back in the game. https://t.co/9v3XwctGli https://t.co/TGV8wTUaU8

In the days leading up to the tragedy, Ty Dolla $ign had teased that he was questioning the “hype” behind meme coins.
“What’s up with all these memecoins tho? I keep hearing about them everywhere. Is it all hype or people really making bread of this?” he said.

Ty Dolla $ign then went on to say that he wants to “drop 500k on meme coin” to which boxer Ryan Garcia quickly responded with, “Bet on Sundog. Some mafia cult meme lol.” Thus, leading the rapper to the substantial loss of 1 million Sundog tokens.
Ty Dolla Sign is not the first public figure that got burned after attempting to make cryptocurrency purchase.
In March 2024, the anonymous creator of the so-called Slerf memecoin accidentally burned $10 million worth of SOL tokens raised from liquidity providers and the tokens that were set aside for the airdrop.
He admitted that it was simply a “mindless misclick,” when the developer was trying to burn some of the tokens using Solana’s web tools.
Another major crypto burn happened to NFT collector Brandon Riley who accidentally destroyed a $129,000 valued CryptoPunk when he was trying to create a proxy wallet in March 2023.
